Thoughtful Mother's Day Gifts for All the Great Women in Your Life!

Mother’s Day isn’t just about Mothers—it’s a wonderful opportunity to focus on the strong women in your life who have made a real difference and have played a role in defining who you are today. These women may indeed include Mothers, but may also include beloved Grandmothers, Aunts, Teachers, Neighbors, Religious Leaders, or even a Boss at work who was particularly nurturing on your career path.

Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to honor the impact these women have had in your life and you don’t have to spend a lot to do it. Expressing gratitude doesn’t have to break the bank!

Check out these simple but meaningful ideas to express your gratitude:

Enjoy breakfast together. Why not enjoy breakfast together? Consider making something delicious (pancakes, anyone?) or bring over doughnuts or a favorite breakfast sandwich. What a great way to start her special day.

Do an activity together. Create a few memories together! What does she love? Perhaps embarking on a hike, baking a cherished family recipe or enjoying old photo albums together fits the bill perfectly.

I love this hike! Spring Lake is awesome.

Have lunch. A picnic basket full of goodies is a great idea. Simply spread a blanket on the front lawn or head to a park, the redwoods or even the beach. Bring a speaker and enjoy her favorite music, reminisce, and laugh together and thank her for the influence she has been in your life.

This supermarket is one of my favorites for filling that basket with yummy treats!

Do some chores. Look around the house or apartment. Rake a few leaves, pluck some weeds or paint the screen door. Sweat equity doesn’t cost much, but it can make a big difference!

Write her a note: In a world of Facebook posts and texts, an old-fashioned, handwritten note is often forgotten. Another benefit of a hand-written note is that it can be reread and enjoyed—and can be propped up on a bedside table as a reminder of your appreciation.

Give her hug. Hugs are free. And invaluable!
