Dining with Dogs: Sonoma County Style!

If you are a Sonoma County resident, it’s certainly no surprise to know that when it comes to being passionate about our pups, we are high on the dog-o-meter! With spring blooms popping, temperatures warming and COVID restrictions easing (please wear a mask and practice social distancing!) Sonoma County residents are venturing out with dogs in tow to enjoy this beautiful place we call home.

Luckily there are many local restaurants that figuratively roll out the red carpet for our furry family members. Dining on the patios with a well-behaved pet is one of spring’s great pleasures. Before visiting any of the following suggested restaurants, be sure to check for availability and reservations, if needed, especially as we carefully move forward with lessened dining restrictions.

It’s also important to remember that a well-behaved pet is a welcome addition to an outdoor dining establishment, while a temperamental pooch is probably left best at home. And always play close attention to an outdoor temperature that’s uncomfortable for your pet. Always carry water and a portable dish to keep your pal comfortable, safe and happy.

•Russian River Brewing Company, Windsor: Your pup will love the one-acre pet-friendly park ideal for dining and enjoying a bite from the tasty pub menu.

(The downtown Santa Rosa location is dog-friendly, too, but usually busier). 700 Mitchell Ln, Windsor, 707-545-2337, russianriverbrewing.com/windsor.

•Franchettis', Santa Rosa: Looking for a special party for our pooch? Every third Tuesday of the month, they offer up a pooch party with treats for your little buddy! But their outdoor garden is always pet friendly. 1229 N Dutton Ave, Santa Rosa, 707-526-1229, franchettis.com.

•Ricky's Eastbound, Santa Rosa: Enjoy classic American fare surrounded by twinkle lights on an outdoor patio. 5575 Mountain Hawk Dr., Santa Rosa, 707-843-5143, rickyseastbound.com.

•Stumptown Brewery, Guerneville: With lots of room to roam and rump, this funky brewery right on the river is a great spot for the whole furry family. 15045 River Rd, Guerneville, 707-869-0705, stumptown.com.

Enjoy! And be be sure to let me know YOUR favorite doggy dining spots, too!
